Community

Central to the Center for Digital Media is the sense of community. A thriving new media business community will be created with cutting edge companies, municipal assistance, business and university support as well as access to investment capital.

The model on which we base our development strategy uses a campus environment within a group of highrise buildings. The development of clusters of firms, rather than individual businesses requires proximity as an essential ingredient. Concentrations of companies with like products, services and markets requires support to maximize the cost advantage of shared resources.

Historically, companies with similar businesses often have co-located forming business districts that benefit from both intense competition and close cooperation.

New York City is famous for its many "districts" like the jewelry, financial and garment centers. Buildings often are dedicated to one industry by design or evolution.
